1 June 2017

The Mayor of Woodbridge, Councillor Clare Perkins, has chosen the Creative Arts and the therapeutic benefits associated with them as the theme for her mayoral year.

As part of this she is delighted to announce the launch of the Woodbridge Creators and Makers market showcasing the skills and talents of local artists and makers. The first market will take place on Saturday 8th July between 10am - 2:30pm at the Shire Hall.

A message from the Mayor to all creators and makers;

Welcome to the first of what I hope will be an ongoing showcase of your talents - the next market will be held on August 19th 2017. What I hope to achieve with this project is to show how your wonderful skills can help someone who is finding life difficult, fighting depression or dealing with a life changing moment such as a bereavement as doing something creative is a great healer for all sorts of troubles.

If you would like to have a stand at one of our creative art markets please contact me via email explaining what it is that you do, how you think your particular skill could help and how you encourage people to take it up. There is no charge to showcase your skill and you may sell your products however I do ask that you make a contribution toward the Woodbridge Creative Arts Fund.

As a designer/dressmaker/artist myself I understand the therapeutic benefits of being creative so would like to showcase and make available to everyone Creative Arts such as;

Whittlers & Knitters, Spinners & Weavers, Painters & Cooks,Photographers & Filmmakers, Musicians and Dancers and many many more! A lot of these are old fashioned skills that need to be seen to inspire others to take them up.

I look forward to making this project work for everyone and see creative art enhance lives in those who have troubles.

Lets get creative!
